How do I report someone for defamation online?

Postby warton26 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:42 am

This...really really really annoying lady, mother of my ex, has spread BS about me around a site, GaiaOnline.com.
I told her to stop, even quoting law to her.

not 24 hours later, she posted more BS, and EVEN USED MY REAL NAME.

This is the final straw. I have allready reported her to the site, but the police are hearing this one.
How do I report this? I have screenshot records...

Not often a crime, you will have to sue. It is a civil case, and unless she has money, you will gain little suing. Plus you will have to pay for an attorney.

Lastly, GaiaOnline.com looks like an odd site. Polls on who thinks child abuse is okay?

Having read your Logs, I really think you would have trouble winning anything. Her "I believe" is an opinion. If you wish to consult one, but I suspect you will be told the same thing.

If you are in the US, it's highly doubtful that your lawsuit would get anywhere. You'd spend hundreds on attorney's fees, and even in the rare case that you win, it would be very difficult to enforce a judgment because she could start posting somewhere else.

I suggest you start ignoring it and move on. No one takes sites like this seriously anyway.
