How do you obtain your medical records from a doctor who is no longer in business?

Postby wendlesora » Sat Jun 09, 2012 1:20 am

I need my records from a surgery years ago. The problem is the physician turned in his license due to several malpractice cases. I'm having problems with the injury again and I need my records for my new physician. How do I go about getting them.?

The office of your new physician should be able to get your records. You should contact his or her office and sign a release. That will allow the office to request the records.

When my doctor retired, the office staff at the office of my new doctor got the records from the office of my previous doctor.
