How do you talk to ignorant people?

Postby forde » Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:02 am

Recently I had a debate at my debate club team (Not authorized by faculty) about Marijuana, I purposed a different plan instead of legalizing Marijuana fully I would like to legalize hemp oil but keep smoking Marijuana illegal, my facts as to why I chose that: Hemp oil cures many cancers but is illegal due to the link of Marijuana substances. Marijuana smoking CAN cause harsh effects ( Believe it or not, I did research this do not comment if you're going to say BULL **** because I can prove you wrong.) and hemp oil can be used to do even MORE than any smoking of Marijuana can do.

So In this debate I brought up FACTS as to why I wanted this to be considered. They all say something as in "DUDE YOU KNOW THE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS THE DRUG LAWS IN AMERICA!!! THERE LYING TO YOU!!!" or "DUDE WEED DON'T KILL NO ONE" and I would respect there opinions and facts, but it seems that if I try to give them a fact that I RESEARCHED, they all seem to say "OMFG! YOU'RE JUST AN IGNORANT DUMB ****, ALL THAT STUFF IS CONTROLLED BY DA GOVERNMENT!!!" please, someone help! I need this debate to pass! The only way I can get this idea to spread is if pot heads could listen!

You can't get pot heads to listen! They would rather just spend their time being stoned.

You need to speak slower. Also, when you do see a glimmer of understanding in their eyes pat them on the back and tell then they did a good job thinking.
