Straight from microsoft assist: In Windows Vista, click the Commence button , point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Technique Tools, and then click Character Map. In Microsoft Windows XP, click Begin, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Program Tools, and then click Character Map.  Note   If Character Map is not accessible, see Windows Help for data about how to install a Windows element. In the Font list, click the font that you want to use. Click the unique character that you want. If you don't see the character that you want, attempt clicking one more font in the Font list. Click Choose, and then click Copy. Switch to your document, and then place the cursor exactly where you want to paste the character. Click Paste. If the character looks different from the one particular you selected, select the character and apply the very same font that you chosen in Character Map.  Notes  If you know the Unicode equivalent of the character that you want to insert, you can insert a special character directly into a document with no using Character Map. To do so, open the document and position the cursor where you want the specific character to seem. Then, with NUM LOCK on, hold down ALT although you press the keys on the numeric keypad to sort the Unicode character worth. For the copyright symbol, just kind in: (c) For the restricted symbol, just variety in: (r) For the trademark symbol, kind in: (tm) The very same principle holds correct for the other individuals also.  I consider you'll discover this approach significantly less difficult! Use the "character map" Go to:  Programs/Accessories/System Tools   There you should find the "Character Map", which has a search option, or you can simply look for it in the images it shows you.  Then copy & paste into the document.   Or, you can make sure your "number lock" key is ON, hold down the ALT key and(while holding the ALT) press 0174 on the keypad to the right.  Let go & you get: ®   I know there are other codes you can use(3-digit instead of 4), and if you google them you should be able to find them.   Good luck!      Sources: lots of experience with characters....   lizita's Recommendations Office XP for Dummies Amazon List Price: $21.99 Used from: $2.17 Average Customer Rating: 3.0 out of 5(based on 1 reviews) Book title is not a reflection on you! I just find these books more "user friendly" than the actual manuals, sometimes! :O) lizita 74 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. How Do You Type The "registered Trademark" And Other Symbols On Microsoft Word?

You can go to "insert"(top of the screen) and choose "symbols."  A chart will appear, and usually the copyright and trademark symbols will show up at the bottom of the pop-up box as default selections.  You select the symbol you want, click "insert" and then "close" unless you need a second symbol as well.   I use this a lot for foreign currency symbols, but here are just a few of the cool symbols I just picked up: ? © ® ? £ ? ? ? ? ? ?      There are lots, and I don't know the meaning of most of them.  There are also a number of specialized alphabets and notation sets you can choose from.
