Maybe never. Even when the economy was good, there was a myth law students had that they would find their ideal job right out of law school. The reality is that many new lawyers take whatever job they can find. You can only work as a corporate lawyer if you are hired as a corporate lawyer. In a bad economy, you have to take what you can get. You then must improve your credentials, network, and work toward whatever position you want. If you can't handle 5 to 10 years in a non-corporate position, going to law school is probably the wrong move for you.
That being said, my relative worked as a clerk at a fortune 100 company during law school. Upon graduation, she was hired as an entry level attorney in the corporate legal department. Therefore, it does happen right out of law school, but more often than not, your not going to get what you want.
