Hi...I hope that my experiences with birth controls can help answer your questions... Many women do not know that birth control can cause water retention(bc of hormonal changes in your body) and add weight, size(even create cellulite bc this excess water retention pushes the fat cells to the surface of the skin)... I am not a larger woman. I am currently 5'6" and 122 lbs, but am currently balancing myself back out for the third time after the pill...(my typical weight without the pill is approx 10-15 lbs less)..From my personal experience it takes me approx 3-5 months to completely balance myself out after stopping birth control and stop bloating and retaining water and all the other side affects. I've exp. them all- break outs, water retention, missed or late periods, spotting between, change in breast size, mood swings and more...Its def. not a fun process for women just trying to get back to their "normal selves"... It will take a little time for your body to regulate its progesterone/estrogen levels so you can stop having those issues. Whatever you do- dont go off and on diff. birth controls bc that will confuse your hormones even more. Just allow your body to regulate itself naturally over time. If you do miss periods for a month or two or are a little irregular that is a normal side affect also until things even out. Exercise, drinking alot of water -avoiding carbonated drinks, caffine, fatty/greasy foods, over eating, excess sodium can all add to the water retention- so try to eat as healthy as you can for some relief. Some women can store so much water on certain days that they look pregnant. All you can do until you balance is try to be cautious on what foods/drinks you consume. A daily vitamin is a good idea also as calcium, magnesium, vitamin b6 and potassium aids in water retention relief...I really hope this all helps and if you have any other questions feel free to ask...Believe me- i've been there. :) Lots of luck to ya. ;) nicolef85 30 months ago
