How much is a 25 mph over California speed limit?

Postby ear » Mon May 07, 2012 4:01 pm

I went 65 mph on a 40 mph. That is 25 mph over speed limit. I want to know how much the total cost would be if I went to court and traffic school. I don't know what to do after I get a ticket. Someone help.

You should not go to court and do traffic school. Do one or the other, also I nor anybody else, could not tell you the exact cost of the ticket without knowing what county you were in and if it was a school zone or a construction zone. If you go to court and plea "no contest" most of the time the judge will not give you points and still require you to pay the ticket (best option as of now) if you do traffic school, you pay more for the ticket, you pay for traffic school, and you still get no points but then you must wait 12-18 months before you can attend TS again.

In the State of California, you will get a citation, rather than a fixed amount of a fine.

The scheduled fine for 16-25 mph over the limit is $360 (I assume that if you were in a construction zone you would have mentioned that). Your fine should be close to that. Traffic school will add about $50, plus the cost of the school. There is no need to go to court. You will be able to take care of everything through the mail or on line.

Go here

then follow the traffic link.

BTW, the judge does not have an option not to give points upon a conviction, DMV assesses points. The only way to avoid the point is to avoid the conviction or to go to traffic school.
