Unless you can prove to the judge you were heading somewhere that was nearly an emergency-you can't.

You can't
Learn your lesson - don't speed or be more observant when you do!

What is there to fight?

You admitted you were going 12 MPH over the speed limit

Pay the ticket you have no case to get it thrown out

My first piece of advice...

Unless your excuse includes your imminent and impending death or you actually have a baby coming out of you, any excuse you use is just an admission of guilt and tells the judge that you think it's OK to ignore the law as long as you think you have a valid reason.

Think how this sounds to the judge... "Your honor, I know I was going to fast but I was late to work and my boss will fire me if I'm late."

Here's what the judge hears... "Your honor, I was speeding. I'm not responsible enough to leave on time for work. Please convict me."

To fight a speeding ticket, you need a DEFENSE, not an EXCUSE. A defense could be something like "they ticketed the wrong car", "the speed limit is 45 at that point", or "the device used to catch my speed was malfunctioning".

In the absence of a defense, you should be looking into whether your state has any diversion programs such as a defensive driving class or deferral program.
