ok, i was out in the country at night and my speedometer dont work, so i turned and a car turned behind me about and eighth to a quarter mile back and i sped up trying to lose him cuz i didnt know if it was a cop or not but of course it was, and after about 2 miles of going about 100, i pulled into a scrap yard lot, got outta the car and he passed and turned around and pulled in and asked what was up and why i was going so fast. can i take that to court and get the ticket dropped because he didnt have his lights on? btw he cited me with 85 in a 55 and running a stop sign (idk what makes him think i ran through it.. i slowed down to prob like 2 mph) and driving with suspended license but i was on my way to my dads and he dont think i was on my way there but i was. once again, can i take this to traffic court and get it dropped maybe?

It is unlikely to get dropped. He doesn't need to turn his emergency lights on to give you a citation, that's just to get your attention. I understand you weren't sure it was a police officer but that's not going to be enough to explain driving 100 miles an hour and driving on a suspended license.

Based on YOUR version of events, you WERE speeding, without anything REMOTELY resembling a valid reason, and the officer issued a citation. There is no rule that requires them to pull you over if you stop on your own before they get to it. At 100 mph, 2 miles is barely long enough for his computer to return the results of running your plates. MOST officers do that before initiating a stop. That way they have a 'heads up' if the vehicle owner has warrants and/or a record.

I just noticed the running a stop sign. He most likely WATCHED you "slow down to probably 2 mph". BY DEFINITION, you just CONFESSED to running through it.

Are you completely nuts????

You have a suspended license, you drive over 100 MPH and you run (nearly stopping doesn't count) a stop sign.... and you want to get out of the situation because the officer didn't have his lights on.....

You must be crazy............
