How much should I ask for?

Postby lorimar » Tue Jul 03, 2012 5:36 pm

Two years ago, on the dot, I worked for a group home caring for mentally disabled adults. One decided to run away and I had to chase after him. Long story short, I managed to injure my back while running on uneven ground. I immediately reported the incident. I was put on temp disability waiting for some sort of workers compensation, but turns out the company had none. Up until now, I have been involved in a lawsuit against the company and I feel that we are coming to a close.

My question is, I am expected to come up with a sum that I want as compensation. I have lost everything. I have no car, no home, very minimal belongings because I have had to sell everything to survive, my social security has been denied and my wife and I are basically living off of her income of 200 dollars a month, I have no more disability benefits and we are living day to day.

My injury is multiple fractured discs, bulging discs, herniated discs... among other things. I have been told I am going to need surgery so I don't know if I should include this in my sum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
