How Promptly Does Askville Remove Content That Has Been Reported For Violation Of The Following...

Postby Walthari » Sat Feb 01, 2014 4:30 pm

You may post content on this site, so long as the content is not: * Illegal * Obscene * Threatening * Defamatory * Hateful * Invasive of privacy * Infringing of intellectual property rights(such as copyright and trademark rights) * Racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable * Otherwise harmful or injurious to third parties(from Askville's Terms of Service)For example, if someone were to post a racial slur in an answer, and it is reported, what is the response time? I can understand certain kinds of abuse taking a longer response, but hateful, obscenities, or remarks containing slurs - these seem like they should come down pretty quickly. Has anyone had any experience with this, and can give me some general idea of the time frame in getting a response from Askville?

The only thing I've ever reported is spam and it seems to be taken down pretty quickly. But I'm guessing their motivation in that case is to protect Amazon's territory, not us.....

How Promptly Does Askville Remove Content That Has Been Reported For Violation Of The Following...

I have reported an abuse several times and whenever they thought it was an abuse they were fast and removed the post in a matter of hours if not less than an hour. I have reported other posts that I thought were abuse but they did not notice. I think they did not find them as abuse and that is why they ignored them! I remember there was somebody who copied and pasted somebody else's answer. They removed the answer in an hour. One reason probably was that the person posted a question about that and that was easier for them to notice. Having said that, if it is a weekend or late at night they might not have anybody checking the feedbacks so you should probably be a little bit more patient! I saw the comment that you are referring to and that should definitely be removed. As the size of this community grows they might find it harder to watch everything. It might be one reason that they are a bit more slow than before.

How Promptly Does Askville Remove Content That Has Been Reported For Violation Of The Following...

I think it depends.... ...on who?s working!  I?ve seen a few things get pulled IMMEDIATELY, but other times it takes awhile...but generally it seems like the really NASTY ones, like a racial slur or something really really bad, do get pulled pretty fast. Even some in the middle of the night, or at least quite late, which surprised me. I had one that I had to report twice before they took action, and it was an identity theft kind of thing.  Other reports, they don't do anything at all.  The rules seem so up in the air and so open for interpretation now, it's hard to know what they will do, let alone WHEN! Don't expect a personal response from Askville at all. Occasionally they will, but not as a general rule. Poppet! 71 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. I've sometimes reported the same blatant vulgarity and obscenities over and over and nothing was done. I wonder if, on evening and night shifts, Askville even has available staff to make such a change.
