How to deal with unresponsive business?

Postby taryn31 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 5:42 am

i bought an rebuilt engine from a company called rising sun engines. i put the engine in only to find it was rattling. this was about 11 months ago. I brought the car to them and they looked at it and assured me that it was just a coincidence and that the motor was rebuilt properly. now that i have saved up enough money to get it worked on, i took it to my mechanic only to find that the motor WAS improperly rebuilt. the engine had a 12 month unlimited mile warranty, but they wont return any of my calls or emails. do i contact the police? the courthouse? a lawyer? i cant really afford a lawyer and their business moved locations.

You can sue them in small claims court for the cost of bringing the engine up to the standards t should have been when you bought it from them.
HOWEVER, if I were them, I would just say, "Your honor, he has used it for almost a year. Who knows what kind of stress he put on the engine. How can we be expected to fix a problem HE caused?"

Now, if your mechanic friend can prove that the problem was there from the start, call him as an expert witness. Otherwise you can try, but it is your word against them.
