How to get my product patented?

Postby fiacre68 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:10 pm

I have come up with a type of product in the Beauty and Cosmetics dept which I think could be successful. I have formed the product and designed the packaging, what is the next thing to do? I don't want to waste money on patenting to then find out that: a) it won't sell and b) has already been trialed and tested. I am also wary of who I speak to regarding my product due to the obvious reasons that my idea could be stolen from me. I have no experience in this field so am very grateful for any tips and advice.
Many thanks.

Do it right without getting ripped of by websites that promise to do this for you.
Get a book from your bookstore on
How to Create and Patent Your Own Idea.

Excellent!!

You can search the US government site http://patft.uspto.gov/ to check if your idea has already been patented.

Then get a simple book. Please do not share your idea with anyone.

If you do not want to pay a patent fee, since you are not sure of things, you MUST at least get it "pre-patented" by paying a small fee (~200), so that nobody could steal your idea. Once you think your idea is feasible and will be put to produce good results you can think of patenting it at that point.

Getting a beginner's book on this topic and familiarizing yourself with intellectual property rights is easy and will definitely be useful.

Good luck!

Tee:

Guess what? The Federal Government has the solution! The provisional application for patent.. It costs $125 and gives you 1 year of Patent Pending.. Learn LOTS about it here..

http://provisionalpatentvideo.com/patent-instructions/Provisional_Patent/Patent.html

Also... use the NDA on the above link.. Modify it as needed...

Here is a sample patent in the Cosmetics field... Use it to look for something like YOURS..

PM me with questions.. I will answer...
