How to style up school uniforms?!?

Postby macquaid35 » Sat Jul 28, 2012 2:09 pm

So I'm going into 7th grade and the school board decided we should wear uniforms, I'm not complaining because I'm even lucky for clothes. I don't want anything too pricey because my brothers have to wear uniforms and they have high expectations. So here are the rules for my school

-pants must be khaki, navy blue, black slacks, or plain black and blue denim jeans. Navy blue, khaki, or black shorts, skirts, skirts, or jumpers aloud.

-shirts must be standard short or long sleeve polo style, oxford style, or button up shirts. Have to be in the color blue, green, black, grey, white.

-on cold days you can wear zip, button up, or over the head sweatshirts in the colors, white, black, and grey.

- coats are not outlined in the policy therefor any color is acceptable.

- if belt loops are showing we have to wear a black or brown belt.

* small trademark logos are acceptable*

For shoes I'm planning on getting a pair of black vans, and a pair of flats(:

Any advice on makeup or hair?
Thanks guys (:

I personally don't agree with uniforms-- you should be free to express yourself-- but since you obviously have to, I would spruce it up with some cool jewelry or accessories that you like. Also, spending a little extra time on your hair and make up can help to make you stand out more! Good luck, I hope this helped a little :)

-great jackets. Get statement making jackets that you can wear that are still acceptable school colors
-hair accessories. Headbands are great for accessorizing with.
-jewelry. Stack some rings, bracelets, or wear a cute necklace. try earrings as well-a girl I know from my school wears great earrings and they really spice up our uniform.
-loop the belt in a cool way
-pops of color. Try wearing bags that stand out, or bright headbands or bold jewelry. Maybe your shoes could be colored too, like red vans :) and since you said any color coat, try a bright coat! or maybe you can put a bright tank top or cami under your button up shirt
-tights and socks. They can be great for accessorizing a uniform. standard black tights are classic, but you can go funkier with some over the knee socks, lace tights, thigh high tights or socks, or you can go with standard crew socks.
-gloves and hats. These are fun to wear, especially in the colder months. Some fun gloves with a cute knit hat look great.
-scarves. There are so many scarves to choose from. To really stand out, choose one that's a bold color or has a cool pattern.

makeup: do your makeup however you're comfortable with, but if you want to spice it up, try some colored eyeliner like violet, navy, or emerald eyeliner. It looks really pretty :) some highlighter on your cheekbones and some lip color look really nice too. If you want to go bold, try a bright lip color like hot pink, red, orange, or coral :)

hair: however you want. Some cute styles are a fishtail braid, waterfall braid, mermaid waves, sleek and shiny straight hair, sock bun, and messy bun.

edit: here are some really awesome socks

Here's just a couple tips I could give you for the uniforms- if you are aloud, get some cute accesories like headbands or jewelry. And if you are aloud to wear knee high socks, get some cute ones to go with your skirt.

Hair and makeup-
Hair: I suggest Possibly flat iron or curl it..or possibly braiding or cute bun up dos.
Makeup:
Foundation: If you need full coverage, make sure your applying it well or just go for a tinted moisturizer. If not, just a concealer for under eye dark circles and a couple zits. I'm your age and I wear bare minerals just FYI.but that's pretty spendy.
Eye make up: neutral colors definatly. Your only 12/13 like me and I wear whites and browns and sometimes light pink with brown.i suggest not wearing eyeliner but it's your parents choice.
Cheeks: a little blush is ok but not bright colors. Very light and coral. Bronzer is optional but I think it's a little much at our age.
Lips: just lipgloss or lightly colored Chapstick is fine.

I know going to a uniformed school is tough being that you can't express yourself through clothing but try and look outside the rules and spark it up with accesories! I hope I helped and good luck!! ;)
