How will my first speeding ticket in Florida effect my insurance?

Postby anglesey34 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:03 pm

Ok I'm 19 and just got my first speeding ticket on the way to work today doing 9 miles over. So my question is how many points are added to your license for doing this much over and is there any way to avoid getting these points? If not, how will this affect my insurance? Is it going to skyrocket, even though this is my first speeding ticket ever?

as long as you do traffic school your insurance should stay the same. but if you get a second ticket then you can expect to have your insurance go up by 20-50 bucks per month. and it will stay at that higher rate for 2-3 years.

i did my traffic school online with gototrafficschool.com and used a discount code: X2K-7CF-4F5 and saved $2 off.

you can find the final exams answers by searching traffic school answers 2012

Your insurance is going to go up. You're going to get points on your license. You exceeded the speed limit and got caught.
Somewhere in your insurance policy there will be some fine print about you having to inform your insurance company about things like speeding tickets. This is because people who get speeding tickets are higher risks than people who don't, so the insurance company will want to reassess your premium.
If you don't inform your insurance company and they find out they have the right to void your insurance. If this happens you will find it difficult and very expensive to get insurance.
You're 19 and you think it's good that this is your first speeding ticket? Hopefully the extra insurance you're going to be paying for a few years to come will teach you to slow down.

First find out if your state lets you take a traffic school program for first offenders. The court clerk should know it may even be written on the information with the ticket. If you can you pay a fee for the class some court costs and then go back to court upon completion and the ticket is deferred. Forget all that ";lay low" or any of that other crap that other guy said. The ticket is only on your drivers license if you are convicted. If you go to traffic school that will eliminate that as a problem. good luck slow down. You may as well get used to going the speed limit now. you dont have a choice.

the insurance co may not know about it,....if you just " lay low " and dont do any policy changes. or have any claims. They do occasionally do a random check of drive records, and may catch it that way, but again maybe not................been there, and didnt get caught.

ok I'm older. Ok, ask your DMV if there is a way to get the points rescinded. Ask your insurance company if your premium will go up. Nobody else knows what will or will not happen. Ok

Ok

This another case of being too fast with the Smartphone and too slow with the brain. OK? Fair? Here is how. If you need to know about car insurance, you call YOUR insurance company. No other can help you. As far as points, this question goes to the courthouse. The phone number is on the citation. As far as speeding. Perhaps you have heard of traffic lights, traffic and exits? I categorize them as equalizers. Yesterday on a road that has over eight traffic lights notorious for not being in sequence and has a 35 MPH speed limit a woman in a hot new Mustang GT 5.0L was accelerating and changing lanes. To her all normal. I was following in my four cylinder, 5 speed, Audi TT. She even ran a red light as people do by not stopping for an amber. Three lights later, at a major intersection, I caught up with her. Her driving technique was wasteful and the running of the light dangerous. And we all got to the same place at the same time. Except that I used like 35% less gas not because of my engine but because of her stepping on gas hard. I would venture that you are doing the same thing: wasting gas for nothing. Speeding is notorious for being a waste of gas. In fact, study after study indicates that most of us WASTE three out of each ten gallons purchased. THREE GALLONS WASTED! Each month that adds up. Now, on top of that waste of money you have to pay for a citation and perhaps higher insurance costs. Was the speeding worth it? NOT! At nineteen you know nothing about cars except they move on your command. I suggest you sign up for driving classes offered by AAA. Check with them. Most beneficial and educational and with reasonable fees. OK? Stop speeding. Best wishes.
