I approve of it for one reason. My B.A. in English was all but useless, and "Ethnic Studies" are even worse. Out colleges should be preparing their students to get an actual job, and English barely does that(I went into education and it was STILL all but useless.) "Ethnic Studies" wouldn't even be that valid in education, much any other real job. If the person wants to learn about his or her "ethnicity," then that person certainly can, but that's a specialty area only a few would care about. The school can point them where to look and then get back to the useful work. danielpauldavis 43 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. Geppetto said: 3 Did you note in the article that the State School Superintendent wanted this law....reading between the lines suggests that maybe Arizona schools have such studies that focus on Latino students as the "oppressed minority"Maybe there are studies that lead to problems like in that case in Morgan Hill, Calif., where students were sent home on Cinco de Mayo for wearing American flags. Sent home because the principal thought they might be in danger from Mexican American students resentment? 43 months ago

gandg22 said: 1 The key to this whole conversation is the "that promote resentment of other racial groups"Federal laws have very similar laws on the books. This is nothing new --- It's just another lame attempt to paint Arizona in a negative light, by the anti-illegal immigrant groups. 43 months ago

Lychnobite said: 2 'ethnic studies' ? Why not teach the next generation of latinos, blacks etc. why self-segregation is preferable while in the meantime reinforcing negative stereotypes that they're inferior to the white man. 43 months ago
