I filed bankruptcy but i haven't been to the 431 meeting yet.?

Is it okay for me to contact my creditors to see if they can work out better arrangements if i decide not to go forward with the bankruptcy. i am expecting a lump sum of money in august and i wanted to see if they would give me until then to pay them off. does the court allow you to contact them even though they are not suppose to contact me according to the law since i filed bankruptcy? i feel like i made a mistake and want to get out of it before the meeting occur on the 31sth
