They should have told you before you showed up for work on the 26th, but perhaps they hadn't decided until that morning.
They fired you on the 26th. I doubt that the law states that it's 72 hours from the time you got fired. The 27th was a holiday, the 28th was 24 hours, the 29th was 48 hours, the 30th was Sunday, and yesterday was 72 hours. As long as they cut the check and mailed it that day, I think they're covered. It's not their fault that you can't come pick it up and it has to be mailed.
You can file a lawsuit for any reason, but if you have the money, the judge will probably have a few words for you about wasting his time.
