I Am 14 And Hoping To Become A Lawyer. But Reading About How Hard It Is To Find Jobs, Is It Worth It?

Never focus on how hard other people say anything is. Look how many lawyers there are! It obviously is very do-able. If this is something you have dreamed of doing, you probably have exactly what it takes to do it! There is nothing more worth putting your time and money into than something you want to do. Quit listening to other people, and start listening more to your own heart. Don't doubt yourself. You can do anything you want to do, but as with all things, it will take effort and work. That's true of anything worthwhile in life. You go for it and someday you can write for yourself about the fact that it IS possible and YOU did it!   Skylight 29 months ago

At age 14, you have at least a dozen years of additional schooling(high school, college, law school) before you will enter the job market. It is impossible in 2011 to make any intelligent guess about what the job market will be in 2023 or 2024. In fact, it would be a poor idea for you to decide something so important on what economic conditions might turn out to be a decade from now. Therefore, follow your dream. Prepare to be a lawyer. You can always adjust your opinion in the future.   ElBanditoRoso 29 months ago

As the others said, GO for it!!! IF you don't there may come a day you'll wonder "what if" What if I had followed my dream? Don't live with regrets. There are sooooo many paths you can take as an attorney, not just what you see in a court room, there is real estate law, corporate law, sports law, entertainment law, medical law. my goodness, the possibilities are endless. My sister became a lawyer, it wasn't easy, but she loves going to work every day, she loves her job and is very very good at what she does.   Trekincat 29 months ago

Go for your dreams! Let's face it, no matter what your job is, it's hard right now to find a good job. With a lot of years before you are out in the job world, however, we can expect that things will get better by then, I'm sure! It's so much better to have a job that you enjoy rather than one that you are at for the paycheck. If law is what you love then you should do it. As you get older, you might discover other interests, too. Never close your mind off to other possibilities--you might miss out on something that you like even more! But definitely don't give up on being a lawyer yet!   Poppet! 29 months ago
