Ethnic identity as the major form of social identity is central identity is central in modern Europe. Many European states are instituting 'ethnic/cultural' laws (French anti-burkha, restricting immigration, language control..). How will this be impacted by the economic collapsee throughout Europe and loss of jobs/quality of life? What about the relations between other EU states?

Ethnic identity as a form of social identity is _not_ central in modern Europe. It's a dangerous anti-democratic epidemic spread by right-wing populist parties. Only ignorant people believe it is a solution to anything.
