If i were to sue my mothers homeowners insurance for personal injury, how much money could i get?

Postby hillocke » Sat Apr 09, 2011 7:34 am

Im thinking about suing my mothers homeowners insurance for personal injury/neglect pertaining to the sexaul abuse that happened to me in the house as a small child over the period of serveral years, but im having second thoughts. When she moved the husband into her home he was already a convicted sex offender and i was about 5 years old at the time i think. She lied to my dad when she moved him in, not telling him about his prior convictions. He has already confessed to the abuse when i came out about it and has been charged accordingly. There was also a civil suit in which we sued him for personal damages and was awarded the most money possible. I already have one of the best attorneys in the state who said he would take on the case on a contingency, but im not even sure as to how much money were talking. Does anyone know how much money i could get, minimum maximum, if i were to sue, and win the case against my mothers homeowners insurance?

You would not sue them, you would sue your mother. This would not be covered by her homeowners insurance at all. I even doubt you can sue her now that you already sued him over the same issue.

in order to sue for damages, physical or mental you have to prove your injuries, doctors reports, medication, rehabilitation are needed, the award is determined by the court

At the time you were living in the house, you were a named insured. You can not pursue damages for liability under the policy that you were a named insured under. Also there is an exclusion for molestation.
