In a personal injury lawsuit, is it necessary to pay the hospital bills with the insurance money I am awarded?

Postby shaddoc98 » Mon May 14, 2012 5:17 pm

I want to make payments to the hospital- the bills come to more than the insurance money I am going to be awarded. My lawyer claims I have to pay the hospital in full and he is going to get the amount due to the hospital really low. What is true?? This is a personal injury case in California. Thank you for your help.

Yes, the money you are receiving is to pay your medical bills. The full amount has to be applied to what you owe the hospital.

The only money that comes to you directly is f you were awarded pain and suffering.
