Just curious :O . like say....what if someone jumped over your fence, even if they weren't going to do anything dangerous, though you didn't know it, and shot them and they died, would you be in trouble? or what if a 10 or even a 5 year old jumped over your fence, maybe you were scared because you didn't know who it was, and shot them without thinking, would you be wrong? im not really asking do you think it's wrong, but like would you get in trouble with the law if you did any of this?
Thank You :D !

If a ten year old, a five year old, or a 50 year old jumped over your fence and you shot them you would go to prison for second degree murder.

You don't have any business handling a firearm if you are the type of person who gets scared and shoots people "without thinking."

The only time a person has the legal right to shoot another person would be if that person is in legitimate fear for his/her life. And if you can't prove you were in fear for your life (meaning a guy is coming at you with a knife, a chain saw, or has a gun pointed at you), then you go to prison if you kill someone for "scaring" you.

In Indiana, you can use deadly force to protect your home ONLY if a person tries to enter your house by force. You cannot shoot to kill if they are just in your yard. So, yes, here you would be in big trouble with the law if you killed someone in your yard. I guess the thought is that you are protected inside your home.

You would be charged with murder. Under no circumstances may you shoot someone on your property, a kid or not; Although there is one exception. If someone on your property looks or is about to use lethal force on you, such as a knife or a gun then you may use lethal force back. So yes only if someone was going to attack you or do serious bodily harm against you could shoot them. I wouldn't suggest it people will always find you back with the law.

IN this country, it is NOT permitted to shoot to kill anyone for jumping over one's fence, adult or child. (Kids are baby goats).

In another country, things might be different.

lol the law would probably think you are mentally ill and send you to some camp to get better. AKA yes you would get in trouble!
