Illegal Immigration. Is There Any Point Where An Illegal Should Be Given A Path To Citizenship?

There should be a better system of processing people into the country ... There are many good people who want to come to the United States, they want to work, they are willing to jump through the hoops.  I know quite a few.  Yet, jumping through hoops gets them no where and if they stay here they end up being illegals, at least those that I know.   Others are criminals.  Seems to me that if we processed those who could prove they were not crinimals, meaning making them legal.  We'd have fewer to sort through and get rid of. Illegal Immigration. Is There Any Point Where An Illegal Should Be Given A Path To Citizenship?

In theory there are reasons they would be allowed to stay, for example, as you point out, asylum, the children being American citizens/   Than again, I have a friend who just for deported back to the Dominican Republic at the age of 45 because even though he was brought here as an infant and did not know he was illegal, they sent him home.   So it is hard to say at the present time what the rules are, because people have become so sensitive about the issue, and at the same time, the economy has taken a really sharp hit, so they are seen, not as doing jobs that many Americans would not want to do(60 minutes did a program last year about the appalling conditions of lettuce pickers in Arizona, and how Mexicans drive 2 1/2 hours each day over the border to do that job, because they can't get Americans to do it, and the pay is so good compared to what they would get back home), but as 'stealing jobs' from Americans.   I have to say, the American work ethic really is NOT what it used to be. I look at my sister in law, who is Asian, and I wish I had more people like her in stores and customer service, instead of spoiled kids constantly on their cell phone on personal phone calls, and listening to their Ipod, or surfing on the computer, when they should be working. JMHO.   70% of the wealth of our economy is based on consumer spending. What ever happened to creating products creating wealth?   wildaboutbooks44 51 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment.
