In Georgia can exempt employees be forced to work overtime without any compensation?

I work in outside sales & classified as an exempt employee under Ga Labor Law. Does this mean that my employer can force me to work 10 hours per day but only pay me for 8?

Having lived and worked in other states, I was surprised about the lack of rights employees have in Georgia. The sad reality is that they don't have to compensate you for additional hours worked. Unlike the other respondent who advises you to quit -- I say read some of these postings from people who would jump at your job. The economy is so bad, it would be foolhardy to quit this position before you secure another.

You're exempt for a reason. Yeah, they can make you work over 8 hours. But ask yourself: do you really want to work for someone who does that? Find another job.
