In Indiana Jones and the LC why did the business guy get over confident before drinking from the wrong grail?

I means there's like 20 fake grails, and he just blindly takes what ever one the Austrian girl picks out? Why does he act all like "this is the Holy Grail, it's beautiful" and then when he drinks it he's all like "I feel eternal life now" right before he dies.

If it were me, I wouldn't be acting all like "this is the one" *drink* "I can feel it" *grown old, die; I'd like "please be the one, please be the one" *drink* "please be the right one, please be the right one" *grow old, die*

It was bloody obvious and he didnt take anytime to examine the cup - any archeologist would have spotted that right away but its Hollywood!
Rather stupid ending I thought.
*and rather too pat that the girl would A. somehow spot the real 'cup' and B. immediately give him the cup - like you would trust her? LOL
I think they virtually stole the scene from 'She' (1965) where Ursula goes back into the flame of life BUT it's a big mistake!!
