Instead of drug testing people on public assistance, why not drug test the entire country on a regular basis?

And if you fail the test, you would be sentenced to some sort of public service, or jail.

Drug use is illegal and we are a nation of laws. If you can't follow the law you deserve what you get.

And the profits for drug testing facilities would be immense.
This idea to drug test those on public assistance was used by Gov. Rick Scott of Florida. Gov. Soctt was a hospital CEO who had to resign after almost going to Prison for Medicare Fraud and had to put his chain of drug testing centers into his wife's name since he was barred from being involved in the medical profession in any way.
Now Gov. Soctt's wife makes a killing drug testing welfare recipients.

This model should be adopted on a larger scale to include everyone.

Because that would violate our constitutional right to our own privacy.

way too much money.
Do you realize how much money that would cost the country? Even in the military where they drug test everyone they'll only test a handful of samples because it costs so much. Also, that's kind of an invasion of privacy and a hassle to everyone. It's just too much money, man power, and hassle.
