Insurance Claim - What Goes On?

Postby demarco » Wed Jan 01, 2014 5:21 pm

Hello, Askville!Which means this weekend, I acquired into an accident that incorporated somebody harm to the vehicle. In my opinion that it had been a "not to blame" incident on my part. Anyways, I filed the claim with my insurance provider, and they filed with an additional driveris insurance coverage. My issues are: *What takes place today? *How lengthy till my car reaches the shop?*Does an additional insurance firm purchase something?(No-Deductible?)*Will insurance coverage cover the cost of a vehicle rental even though my vehicle has been fixed?

Insurance Claim - What Happens?

Get ready for some frustration Sorry about your misfortune.   You will probably need to call your agent several times to keep thinks moving. Your insurance company or the other person's insurance company may want several estimates before authorizing repair. Did you get a police report? It could become your word against the other driver with his insurance company denying any responsibility.   Once you settle who's paying for it, you can take it to the repair shop. The repair shop will probably have you sign something saying you're responsible for anything insurance doesn't cover. If the other insurance is paying, the deductibles do not apply. If your company is paying, you will be responsible for the dedectibles. In either case, insurance companies often try to cut costs by specifying non OEM parts.   Some insurance companies prearrange a rental car and others give a reimbursement. In either case, you will end up with the least expensive car the rental company has or you will have to pay the difference.   Good luck with the repair. 63swc 73 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Insurance Claim - What Happens?

insurance claim You wont have to pay a deductable since you were nto at fault. the other persons insruance should be paying it. Since you were hit, the other company will provide you with a rental or loaner car unti yours is done, sometimes even if it has to sit in the shop because of a part is slow and so on.   I just went through this all but i caused the accident when i hit a damn pole. my car was out for 3 weeks and all i did was crack the bumper and had a radiotor hose come loose.   the speed on how it gets done also depends on the repair shop qand avaliability of parts....   SheweeGirl 73 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Insurance Claim - What Happens?

Depends on what type of Insurance you Have My experience with a accident is, that I would report it to my Insurance Company. They would have me go to there place for a estimate. They would issue a place for me to go to get it fixed. Who pays for it would be between the insurance companies that are involved. If it is the same insurance companys then the deductable is usually waived. If it is not the same insurance companies then who ever is decided to be in the wrong there insurance company pays the other minus the deductable, that you pay the body shop. Insurance Claim - What Happens?

Educate yourself First, if you were not at fault the other drivers insurance company should pay for the damages. After you file the claim with your insurance company, you should take your car to the shop as soon as possible. Call your insurance company to let them know who you took your car to. The insurance company will send out adjusters to come to the shop to asses the damage. Your insurance company should pay for everything and if there is a deductible, pay it. Your insurance company will go after the other company to get their money back. In about 6 months, you will get your deductible back. Depending on the policy you purchased, you need to check to see if they will cover a car rental. Let me be clear, you have to read your policy. It is better to know what you purchased in an insurance policy. Keep and date , police reports, repairs estimates, and any phone call you made to your insurance company(day, date and time you called and who you spoke to), correspondence, and keep it in a file. If everything works out okay, your car should be repaired in a few weeks. I know this can be a pain. I've been through this two times because other people hit me. I hope this helps and good luck! Insurance Claim - What Happens?

Postby Berdy » Sun Mar 02, 2014 11:22 am

Worked out between companies, you pay nothing(unless contested) I would have filed a claim with the insurance company of the person that hit you(that is at fault).  But okay if you file with your own and that can be worked out between the companies.   If the other driver admits they are at fault then that other driver's insurance company pays.  You will be asked to get a estimate and then they will issue you a check.  The other company pays it all... you pay nothing.   If the other driver refutes this... says it is your fault then it will be worked out between companies and if the companies decide there isn't enough info to lay blame you could get stuck with your insurance company covering you(if you have that kind of coverage) and you paying the deductible.  If you have liability only and your insurance company is left "holding the bag" then you are out of luck.   I have been screwed in the past this way.  Not getting an officer on the scene and then the other driver said the accident never happened and I lost out.  Investigation found that I was "incorrect" and that the accident likely never happened.  Even though my wife was in the car when it did and knows the truth... we were unable to prove it.  Liability on the car only and I lost out on about $900.  Sources: Personal Exerience JayD 73 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment.
