Educate yourself First, if you were not at fault the other drivers insurance company should pay for the damages. After you file the claim with your insurance company, you should take your car to the shop as soon as possible. Call your insurance company to let them know who you took your car to. The insurance company will send out adjusters to come to the shop to asses the damage. Your insurance company should pay for everything and if there is a deductible, pay it. Your insurance company will go after the other company to get their money back. In about 6 months, you will get your deductible back. Depending on the policy you purchased, you need to check to see if they will cover a car rental. Let me be clear, you have to read your policy. It is better to know what you purchased in an insurance policy. Keep and date , police reports, repairs estimates, and any phone call you made to your insurance company(day, date and time you called and who you spoke to), correspondence, and keep it in a file. If everything works out okay, your car should be repaired in a few weeks. I know this can be a pain. I've been through this two times because other people hit me. I hope this helps and good luck!
