Yep We met in an online chat room at least 5 years ago...and just chatted over the years.  I went down to where she is from for a conference, and ended up meeting her then.  We kept talking after that, and saw each other a few more times.  Now we're getting married in December!  I think that you can find your significant other anywhere!  I just happened to find mine on the internet...and I wouldn't change it for anything.  She's amazing, and whatever I had to do to find her and be with her was 100% worth it. Yes. After I got divorced, I met my first boyfriend(4 years) on some site. And last year I met my current partner on Match.com. His profile was a riot, he didn't mention that his favorite things to do were going out to dinner(NO NO, DON'T MAKE ME DO THAT!!!!!) , or walks on the beach, another controversial activity... We've been together for over a year now, and it's wonderful.  I don't know where people meet each other if bars aren't really an option.  At work?  We'll I'm a minister so that's not a happening thing.... School?  Over. It's a viable alternative if you're careful. funnyvalentine 78 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Please verify your account to give a compliment. Yes, we met in an America OnLine chat room I participated in the Star Wars Online trivia contests once a week. So did my wife(to be, back then). I was so involved that I began running the trivia contest, and this one contestant kept pleading with me for extra points, and arguing with me when she didn?t get credit for answers she thought were at least borderline. It was all in fun, so I didn?t take it personally. She invited me to a SciFi convention where many of the trivia players would meet in person for the first time. We hit it off, and now she tells everyone that it was Star Wars that brought us together. She tells people the story of how we met online, and it used to embarrass me. But it is more and more common, especially among more technical people, who don?t visit the "single?s scene" as often as others do. I wonder who the first Askville couple will be? Oooooooh, what about an Askville proposal? Would anyone consider that romantic?   Manimal's Recommendations The Sexual Revolution 2.0: Getting Connected, Upgrading Your Sex Life, and Finding True Love -- or at Least a Dinner Date -- in the Internet Age Amazon List Price: $14.95 Used from: $2.97 Average Customer Rating: 5.0 out of 5(based on 11 reviews) Manimal 78 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment. Yup. I met my girlfriend through okcupid.com just over 2.5 years ago, and we've been living together for several months now. I'd met people online in the past, but not through dating sites, just through ICQ or IRC. OKCupid's matching worked pretty well for me -- she was my top match, I think -- but the other people I know who've used it haven't been as lucky.
