Is a masters degree or bachelors degree worth pursuing?

Postby hillocke » Sat Nov 19, 2011 9:03 am

I plan on earning an associates degree in professional communication at Onondaga Community College. After that if I believe its worth pursuing I would like to attend Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. If I am fortunate enough I will be able to attend the entrepreneurship & emerging enterprises department which is ranked 3rd nationally as an undergrad program. Regardless of what I choose only a maximum of one semester of classes will transfer over. 18 credits, I think. So would that mean I would get another associates degree at the university? Does that sound like a good move as far as career path goes given the job market. Do you think I picked a good degree to pursue in Comm. College? Lets say it is and I earn my bachelors at Whitman, would it make sense to then go to Newhouse School of Communications which is also one of the best schools in the nation for it's field of study, for a dual masters degree program called Public Diplomacy? That is a masters in both public and international relations. Is it possible for me to study political science at some point too? I also have an interest in corporate law. Should I try and work that into my plans? if so how and when? I just want to shoot for the goal of becoming President of the United States. If I succeed in doing so I will be the most successful that I could be. If not then at least I know I did my best and I will still be as successful as "I" can possibly be.

First, and foremost, anyone who wants to be President of the US really could do with a good, long term relationship with an experienced psychoanalyst. This is a treatable condition, if not curable.
Second, any education will pay you back in earnings potential and self satisfaction. Yes, pursue a Bachelors and a masters. For that matter, pursue a Ph.D, if you have the opportunity. Third, individuals do not succeed based on the school they attend, rather, they succeed based on the quality of their works and deeds. They succeed based on what they put into their own education, not on the offerings of their alma mater.
Choose your school carefully. Look for small class size, attentive professors, and an environment conducive to study. Good luck!
