The degree will only help you pay for law school if you plan to work for a few years first. You're not really going to have time for outside work while you're studying, and if you somehow do, you're going to want to be getting experience that's more directly related to what you want to do after you finish.
As for whether it's a good major/minor combo...you could make it work, but immigration is one area of the law where it makes particular sense to have a background in political science, since the government has such a direct interest in those policies. Even if you're planning to mostly deal with business clients, I think you'd want a more general focus.
