Is it illegal to put a coin-op washer machine inside an apartment unit in MA?

I am a tenant in an apartment in Boston, MA. The landlord is putting in a coin-op washer and dryer inside where my laundry hook-up is so that I cannot put in my own washer and dryer. I was told by a friend that it is illegal to put a coin-op system inside of a unit and that it must be in the common area. I cannot find any law stating this via google search. Does anyone out there know?

There is no such law thus the reason you can't find it. I'm guessing the reason for the coin operated laundry is because he pays for the water and electric that is cost to run a washer and dryer.

No law, Yes the landlord can put a coin-op washer and dryer in his units, don't like it then go to a laundry mat and pay there. Your friend is wrong.

Your friend is wrong. MA law does not address this...so it's not illegal. That is why you can not find a law.
