Is it illegal to "reserve" a parking space with my own traffic cones?

Postby gillivray5 » Thu Dec 15, 2011 10:01 am

Is it against the law (specifically NJ law) to put a bunch of traffic cones that I bought along the curb to hold a parking space for myself because everyone else will think it's illegal to park there?

No, only if you get caught. I also like to put out of order signs on meters.

Not, as long as you stick them up your naked a** in front of the entire street before you set them down.

No. I would not recommend it. Road rage runs severe and people get furious when other drivers do things just to inconvenience them. I speak from experience in my area.

We used to have a small local road under years of construction and they would always redirect traffic with barricades that were empty plastic barrels held to the ground by a metal doughnuts that went over the top. Rednecks in their trucks would slam into these knocking them over just for kicks and the black metal doughnuts would roll into the middle of the road and drivers used to go over them at 50 mph because you could not see them in the road. They caused me several near accidents.

It wasn't me!!! but apparently someone was fed up and decided to take some corrective action. In the middle of the night apparently someone came up to one of the barrels that was not near the lane, making it almost impossible to hit accidentally, you would have to intentionally hit it, I guess they cut a hole in the top and they brought cement with them and they filled it with cement and put the piece back on that they cut off. Needless to say it was not a few days before there was a truck that sustained very serious front end damage and a pissed off drunk rednecks being hauled off for DUI who no longer had a vehicle.

I don't think the police ever found out who rigged it, but we never had issues with them being knocked over again.
