I was wondering if it is legal for a high school teacher to take your belongings off you, and never give them back/throw them out. I'm talking about items such as any accessories suck as bracelets/bangles, necklaces, and just throw them out. At my school at the start of the year every student has to sign a 'cellphone contract' stating that you will not use your cellphone in class and if you do it gets taken off you for a week, so I understand that. But I got lots of other accessories taken off me, I got a few bangles/bracelets taken off me, a necklace, and also a pouch of tobacco. A teacher saw I had all these items on me, and decided to take them off me since they weren't 'uniform' since I signed no contract saying that these can be taken off me, is it legal for a teacher to take them, and throw them out, never to be seen by me again. She threw out a bran new pouch of tobacco, worth $35, some bangles/bracelets worth at least $60 all together, and a necklace that I got given for my birthday probably worth around $25. So that's $120 worth of my belongings a teacher just took off me and got rid of. Is this legal?
I live in New Zealand if that changes anything about the laws and stuff.
Sorry this is probably worded really badly. :c
