Is it legal to get a trademarked symbol tattooed?

Basically what I'm asking is can you get a tattoo of a symbol that represents a company or product? I'm a huge computer nerd and am going for my BS in Real Time Interactive Simulation. I love using BackTrack and think it would be awesome to get the dragon tattooed with their slogan "The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear". Now I'm not asking for anyone's opinions on tattoos because frankly, I don't give a rats *** about people who are against them and do nothing but talk crap about people who have them. I already have 5, so keep your opinions to yourself. I am asking for a professional opinion if it is legal to get a trademarked symbol/slogan tattooed on your body (now I don't even know if they have it trademarked because they don't use the symbol and it's a free software...so generally speaking I guess, is it legal?).

Yes it is legal.

Any cartoon characters, etc. are trademarked and people can legally get them tattooed. Your situation is no different.

It is not illegal but just remember a tattoo is forever. How may Radio Shack TRS-80s do you see today.

Sure, personal use and obviously there is no implied endorsement of your body by the brand.

What difference does it make-even if it wasn't legal, what could they do to you? I wouldn't worry about that.

BTW, lots of people get trademarks tattooed on them...but why not go with something more original than some company's motto?

I think you can even get paid for it. I heard a while back that people could work as human billboards. Not sure though. You would have to call their company.

It is perfectly legal to obtain a tattoo of anything on your body. As long as you are not making any money from the Trademark or any of its affiliates or non affiliates. For example if a friend is going to publicly expose your tattoo venue and people pay you for your "dedication" of getting the tattoo or you pay someone to see you obtain the tattoo of this trademark. You would be sued and you will not win. I myself have a tattoo of my favorite football team. It's perfectly legal

To whomever negatively rated my answer is obviously not aware of the "New York Giants Girl who was sued by the NY Giants for simply showing her dedication to her hometown team in the form of a website. Also not working on a JD in law like I, or already obtain one.

Not illegal for you, but quite likely an illegal copyright infringement on the part of the tattooist.
