Is it legal to shoot a theif in the head!?

suppose your car's alarm sets off, you go out with your gun to see what's happening and you see a thief who's trying to steal your car
now you point the gun at them and tell them to freeze and stop doing what ever they are doing
after that they try to grub their own gun and point it at you
now before they start pointing the gun at you you shoot them in the head and they die
is it legal in this case? And if not then why not?.......shouldn't the Law care more about protecting law abiding citizens than worthless criminals!?

IF a person pulls a gun on you, you certainly have the right to use deadly force to protect yourself.

Unless, of course, that person has identified themselves as law enforcement.

That person being someone engaged in a criminal act just adds to the "reasonableness "of your reaction to the gun in his/her hand.

Yes, it should and does. However, "the law" is there to protect everybody's rights.

Its either you shoot them in the head or they shoot you and take off with your car in this case. Since it would be self defense, sure it would be legal.
Edit: its not your living space, so youre supposed to just let them take off with your car? And pretty sure saying "Hey, stop that!" Wouldnt help if the thief had a gun on them.

No, because they were not in your house. If they were in your house then it would be considered trespassing and you have full rights to shoot them. Because a car is not your living space, then it does not count. You would still be in the right, but it would take more evidence to prove it.

It could be self defense but then again u pointed the gun at him before he did so now I'm not sure. If I was in that situation I wouldn't have pointed a gun at him I would've just punched him in the face.
