Is it MORE IMPORTANT FOR WOMEN to be with men whose families like than it is for men to have approving in-laws?

I mean, it's easy to say you make ur own family by marrying, but in reality, marriage unites NOT JUST 2 PEOPLE, BUT TWO ENTIRE FAMILIES. Thus, if his folks, siblings, etc have a woman, they;'ll make it hard for her. Moreover, women tend to be more sentimental & if mistreated, so I think it's MORE IMPORTANT for a woman to have a man whose family likes her & treats her well than it is for a man in the same case. The man is still the head of the family in some way, shape or form, and if something goes wrong, he's usually better able to take care of himself than the woman, especially if kids are involved. A woman becomes more a part of the man's family whether they're significant others or are married. what do u say? Why?

Traditionally, it was the groom who had to try the hardest to win over the approval of the family and to prove to them that he was worthy to take their daughter... but now a days I sort of agree w/ you that the daughter-law is more villainized. People are more protective over their sons in general these days. And pitting mother-in-law vs daughter-in-law is a modern classic theme: "Monster-in-Law," Everybody Loves Raymond, etc
