Is Mitt Romney or President Obama's economic plan right or wrong?

Postby shipley » Wed Jul 18, 2012 6:40 pm

Obama wants to increase taxes for the wealthy and extend the Bush tax cuts for the middle class. Mitt Romney wants to cut government programs for poor people and extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. Who's economic plan is right?

It seems like Obama's economic plan is right to me. Wealthy people are responsible for 25% of consumer spending. Lower and middle class people are responsible for 75% of consumer spending. To keep the recovery from failing, shouldn't taxes be increased on that 1% who are not responsible for the majority of consumer spending?

Sorry, but you are trying to apply thoughtful consideration to:
"Obama is attacking the wealthy"
- and -
"Romney hates poor people"

That almost never works.

Is Mitt Romney or President Obama's economic plan right or wrong?

We tried Romney's plan for 30 years. It was originally Reagan's plan. And it hasn't worked at all, in all that time. It has only grown the debt and continued to concentrate wealth and power in the US. In fact, that was its real objective all along. So you can't say it hasn't worked. It just hasn't worked for 99% of us.

Obama's plan has succeeded. Despite all the roadblocks the Republicans have thrown in the way, we ARE IN RECOVERY. It's taking too long, I think we can all agree, but we're definitely going in the right direction.

To me, the choice is between going forward too slow and going backwards. Seems like a clear choice, doesn't it?

Why would increasing taxes help the economy?

Taxes take money OUT of the economy.

How is taxing the 1% going to help YOU?????????????????????

How is our economy doing 3 1/2 years into Obamanomics?

It's a mess, and ready for a tumble.

That says it all to anybody with knowledge of economics and policy (which excludes 99.9% of liberals).

You have had almost 4 years of Obama's economic plan. What about it do you like? The persistent 8+% unemployment? The $1Trillion/years deficits for as far as the eye can see? Shrinking economy? Housing prices through the floor? What are you thinking????

Damn you've gotten the talking points down pat, now try telling the truth.

As we speak the "rich" pay 36% of their income to federal tax, nearly half of all working Americans pay 10% or less in federal tax, What is FAIR to you about that? By liberal logic, since you make a dollar an hour more than your buddy Joe, when you go to McDonald's you should be charged 15 bucks for a burger and Joe should only pay 99 cents or get it for free. That's fair isn't it????

Obama is a pathological liar........you forgot to include that in your calculation.

Obama cut payroll tax......which, since your old age benefits mostly come from this tax, it means he is saving government money in the future and YOU get less benefits. Thank Obama now.
Obama doesn't even want to extend the Bush tax cuts. He hates them but is getting strong armed by the public and economics.
Obama claims he is trying to help the poor, but where's the proof ? I see 8% down on opening jobs. I see a REAL unemployment number of 14% in the black community.
88 Million people out of the work force, 21 new taxes under Obama Care (passed in the dark corners not by voting but with bribes and against the will of 70% of America.
How about the average American families wealth took a hit for 40% in value ?
Or 30 year low for American's looking for work ? Obama's "NEW NORM" as he called it.
1/3 of the homes are STILL underwater despite all the programs government offered.

THIS is Obama's economy. And people are still STUPID enough to want 4 more years of that ?

Sure, before you go "blame Bush" like pathetic retards lapping up everything TV tells you. Bush elevated spending in his last years. It was OBAMA that made those elevated spending years the new norm.

The middle class is where the majority of taxes come from. You could drain EVERY 'rich' person dry and it would only make a dent in the national debt. A debt I might add that OBAMA spent us $5 trillion more into the hole in under 1/2 the time Bush did.

But your option Romney ? he actually has earned a private sector pay check. He actually worked for a living. He did'nt sit on some beach in Hawii smoking stuff and had his whole life handed to him like Obama.

Just by the very nature that Romney has real world experience, he beats Obama hands down. Now comes the task of educating the moron's whom are brainwashed to vote for Obama. He failed us and America, Obama needs to GO. if your of any other opinion, your a liar, an anarchist or just plain stupid..........take your pick.

Unfortunately, Obama's plan doesn't seem to be working. Four years of high unemployment and low growth. Now Bernanke is saying that growth in 2012 will be less than 2011 and 2010. The economy is worsening. No doubt we will hear more excuses and blaming of others for this latest failure, but how much longer will we have to wait for a real economic turnaround?

Maybe you think Obama's economic plan is better but what are you basing that on? Wishful thinking? Because he certainly hasn't demonstrated much skill in improving the economy.

Anyone that says that this election is not about the rich versus the poor is full of it....Romney wants to cut taxes for the top 1% and give them another $234,000 and then pay for all of this by closing the loopholes that he really fails to identify.....which means, tax increases for the poor, cutting of SS, medicare, medicade, food stamps and any safety net that might be out there for the poor.....the President, wants to raise it on the top 1% by over $1M and keep it the same for the people below $250,000 income....which by the way, includes over 97% of all of the small business that the RP is saying they are trying to protect....."voodoo economics" has not worked for the past 30 years and not going to work now.....Romney's plan is the Bush plan and will take us back to the past, like a poor old movie done for the third time, and would be called.....Bush III: Return to the NO future!".........97% of the income growth in 2010 went to the top 3%, about $140,000 for each of them and about 4.2million for the upper top of that same group......the other 97% had an income growth of $80!.......this election is about the rich versus the poor!.......aka "Class Warfare"!!!!!!!!
