Is my employer breaking labor laws?

Postby felabeorbt » Sun Nov 20, 2011 9:12 pm

I recently turned 17 and I'm working in Colorado for a company I will not name. The other day I worked 9 hours, isn't that illegal since I'm a minor? Also, they are required to give us two ten minute breaks for every eight hour shift where we are still paid, but my employer makes me clock out for them, how am I getting paid for them then?

They have me work more than 8 hours all the time, and I hardly ever get my tens, and when I do, I don't think I'm getting paid for them...do I have a legal standpoint that would hold up?

You should be paid for your breaks if not inform the labor board on it.

He may be having you punch the clock to keep track of the time, but still paying you for it.....for instance if you go over your allotted 10 minutes or if you're holding to it

I would start keeping a journal of when you do and don't get your breaks

You should definitely inform the Bureau of Labor. This isn't early 19th century New England.
