Is the Alimony/Spousal support law total B.S.?

Postby gideon » Thu Nov 24, 2011 10:01 pm

I think this is the most immoral family law in existence and I'd like to see if Americans feel the same. Is it B.S.? Please respond "Yes" or "No". Thanks.

While there is abuse in the enforcement of many laws, think about the dead-beat husbands who dump their wives and children without any means of support. Unfortunately, it happens all too often. When a stay-at-home mother is abandoned along with a couple infants and no income, what is she supposed to do. With unemployment rates up so high, it may not be all that easy to find free child support while out looking for work.

And many abusive husbands refused to allow their wives to leave the home to seek employment while they were married and living together.

It is not always all that easy to survive without alimony. Nor is it always right to be so critical of it in every case.

No, I do not think it is B.S..

For a limited ammount of time, no its not bs. I think child support is far worse when it doesnt take into account how much the other parent earns. If you work minimum job and your wife is like a lawyer and she gets custody because she is a woman, you still have to pay her like 200 dollars in child support. That isnt gonna impact the children in any way, but if you make minimum wage having or not having 200 dollars might make a big difference to you.

These laws were created because of the gender disparity of the 40s..60s. In this day & age they constitute RAPE of the father & state sanctioned child abuse (allowing women Parental Alienation). There is no reason for any male to get married any more. I will be actively dissuading both of my children from ever doing this. Too bad, I would have liked to have grandchildren.

No. In America, we have this thing called "representative government". The government makes laws in accordance with the beliefs of its people. Laws that are "total BS" don't stay laws for very long here.
