Is there a law or something that can make the police show/give a copy of a S.O.P. on body searches when asked?

Is there a law or something that can make the police show/give a copy of a S.O.P. on body searches when asked?

I'm trying to write a procedural report on Law Enforcement Body Searches for my Technical Writing Class.

I've tried looking online and in the library. when I asked the Training Sergeant at the local Police Department for help finding information, he told me to "look it up online. Just be careful who's posting it."

I remember my mom saying something about any printed Standard Operating Procedure is public record. I was wondering:

a) if that was true
b) if there was a law or code I can refer the Sergeant to, so my search for info will be fruitful.

Thanks!

Body searches are regulated by the state code of each state. There is no requirement for an officer to offer or make available a copy of the code or law governing searches before or after a body search. You can access your state's legislature website by using the initials for your state followed by .gov, or the state initials followed by leg.gov.

I have never seen or heard about any ;law, policy or regulation requiring police to give you a copy of anything, except possibly a copy of a search warrant. When you refer to body search, exactly what are you asking about? A Terry stop, a search incident to an arrest, what? What the search is for determines the scope and pattern of the search. Officers are taught in the academy to develop a standard pattern for body searches, and to follow it every time, so they do not miss anything. Terry vs Ohio gives the police the right to conduct a pat search for weapons during a street contact, This is for officer safety A search incident to an arrest is a thorough search, to identify and collect any property or contraband the subject may have. I do not use a wall search, as I was a prison officer and observed inmates training to come off the wall to attack officers. I have them interlock their fingers behind the head, then grip their hands, spread their feet and pull them slightly off balance. this lets them know that if they try anything, they will go to the ground. Then I start with the upper right side, lower right, upper left and lower left.
