Is This A New Reason For A Gun Permit? Gun Permit Allows Quick Access To Texas Capitol

AUSTIN, Texas ? Everybody from lobbyists to lawyers and journalists is rushing to get permits to carry guns inside the Texas Capitol, where legislators already often tote pistols in boots and purses or stow them away inside their desks.A unique loophole in a new security procedure indicates a gun permit is like a specific-access pass into the domed creating, permitting people who are certified to carry a gun to bypass lines at the metal detectors that were set up following a shooting incident earlier this year.http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100719/ap_on_re_us/us_texas_capitol_guns

CarpeNoctem said: 4 Yeah, but the subtext is: "Certain, you can attempt to take a shot at a judge or a politician - but everyone around you is armed." It's a deterrent for some of the nutcases. Those not deterred by the believed of death cannot BE deterred, so it doesn't matter. It does mean that those sorts probably won't attempt at the Capitol developing, even though. 42 months ago

Yeah, but the subtext is: "Sure, you can try to take a shot at a judge or a politician - but everyone around you is armed." It's a deterrent for some of the nutcases. Those not deterred by the thought of death can't BE deterred, so it doesn't matter. It does mean that those types probably won't try at the Capitol building, though.
