Is this an example for male victims of domestic violence are not given the same info as female victims?

Should I give up custody of my kids?
I've been divorced for 3 years. I was shot by my ex-wife's boyfriend during the divorce. I was awarded full custody. The ex won't see the kids because visitation is ordered to be supervised. The guy that shot me plead guilty. He is doing 10 years.

The ex stole my identity in an attempt to have me killed. She plead guilty to identity theft last month. They don't have enough evidence to prove she is trying to have me killed. This puts me and my kids in danger. They (the police and prosecutor) tell me I am in imminent danger when she gets out next month.

My ex-in laws have taken me to court so they can have visitation. It was awarded to them.
I'm not free to move because the in laws have visitation.

I'm fairly poor and don't have a lawyer. Legal aid won't touch this case. So I have no legal options. Should I give my kids up?

For a woman, a domestic violence, and the prosecutor, would have informed him that he could move the children out of state, regardless of the access rights of the grandparents, due to fear of domestic violence, under the provisions of the Violence Against Women Act. The new state would be allowed to take immediate jurisdiction over the case without the 6 month waiting period, There does not even need to be an valid evidence of abuse, only a "fear of abuse" is required.

I'm pretty sure that's not DV. They're divorced.

I'm pretty sure the prosecutor would still have to respect the visitation of the grandparents, so the woman would have to stay in state. Especially since they're not married and have no relationship.

I don't understand - what do you mean legal aid won't touch the case. Why not?

That's a great example of the bias against men when dealing with the family court....or any court, and the blatant discrimination and perversion of VAWA.
It's also very sad and frightening.
I would hope that the police and prosecutor would have some sway when it came to the judge. I can't even imagine how the grandparents would have anything to do with this....especially since they raised a criminal for a daughter.

Don't think that female victims are always treated fairly, either. The system only favors people with money or power. I have been a victim of violence and child abuse and as a female I can say that no one in the system cared or gave me special treatment, I was as neglected as you are. Our society favors the rich, because there is something in it for them. I'm sure that if you were well off, you would be able to do whatever the hell you wanted.

No you should NOT give your kids up. They have been through enough trauma already. They have probably been scarred for life by what has happened, and they will feel like you don't love them. Just hold in there. Ask the police what they intend to do about the safety of you and your family. I suggest you contact some family rights groups. A guy called Ian Josephs generally works with people in the UK against forced adoption, but I would google him as he knows a lot about family rights and might be able to give you advice. His contact details should come up on his websites if you search him on google. There is also the Victoria Climbe foundation, they are trying to change things in the child protection system. You are going to need mutual support from people outside the system, because as I said, the system doesn't care about anyone without money. You are going to have to be supported to speak up and don't lose faith for your kid's sake.
