Isn't it obvious that all the law of the Bible was is an ancient ethics system like our modern laws?

Why do people still think we should follow the Bible for morals in the modern world? When the Torah says sin its like us saying criminal act, except that we don't consider silly stuff like eating pork and consensual sex between adults to be criminal.

While some of the rules in the bible are dated many are pretty good rules to follow: Don't steal don't lie don't kill people.

I try to follow those most of the time, even if it's not cause some book told me too.

You make a valid point. Most of the laws in the Old Testament are just that, civil, criminal and public health laws for the nation of Israel and have no application outside of that. Other than the religious aspects of the law it is not much different than the Code of Hammurabi. You are not seeing anybody arguing we should follow that!

You obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. The Old Testament, and the New Testament are two different things.

You are pretty hung up on this "religion/Bible/whatever are just ancient moral codes/ethic systems/ect. Blah blah.

The world NEEDS some kind of morals, otherwise the crackhead that kills your mother will be just as righteous as the person who walks her across the street so she doesn't get hit by a driver texting crap to Yahoo Answers.
