How can you believe it'll influence the office exactly where you operate? How can you believe when you learn a lot more gay/lesbian/transgendender men and women out in public locations you will respond? Will you have any concerns using the law(PS faith does not matter, considering that it will function as the LAW at operate)? If you have experienced the cabinet, or know anybody who's, will you emerge or do you feel they'll? Do you take into account transgendered men and women will be helped by it to never be marginalized, and permit them to function in standard jobs so that they never require definitely to reside in the edge location such as for instance erotic employee jobs? Is this a step forward for the nation? Could it be banging down but an additional hurdle to liberty and equality for several? May possibly this be as vital as when color and intercourse discrimination were banned? Do you contemplate it'll support to make homosexual/lesbian connection far more socially-acceptable, in addition to eventually drive the SCOTUS to overrule any state or national regulations outlawing it?hee hee hee. Have some fun, kiddies!!!

Thanks for the clarification Maggo. Probably it is because I have worked in the social solutions field, and I have worked with transgendered people who have not turned to prostitution - possibly they turned to operate in this field due to the fact they felt they could better be accepted and they have been. I am not so sure that these surgeries are so universally covered by wellness insurance. Whom I enjoy or whom I select to be is not a consideration for access to work I dont believe. Remember this law calls for 'protected class' - and that is a difficult definition.

Life style is a decision. I think you meant to say some think it is biological, or genetic, as opposed to a life-style choice, did not you? The proof scientifically speaking is that it is genetic for the overwhelming majority, but so what? Whom I enjoy, and the way I reside, within the social contract, regardless of whether by genetics or selection is nobodies business but my own. It has no bearing on how I do my job. And Schelli, that crack about sex-operate was a low cost shot, if not a surprise thinking about the source.

peppercat said: 1 You are right - have fun with this one - www.aclu.org/lgbt/discrim/11853leg20020226.html This is simply one website for considering for the Employment Non Discrimmination Act which would include gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgendered groups in protected status. It is a very complicated issue and one that many if not most employers, and employees, are not ready for, I dont think. These issues are hotly debated in our country and many would say that this is a 'lifestyle' and not a choice. One example from my own experience is that there was a homeless shelter for women into which transgendered individuals were able to access. In practical terms, the issue was what bathrooms would they use, how would the other women react when sleeping near them, etc. etc. etc. It is a long way off I believe. 54 months ago

"that crack about sex-work was a cheap shot". Umm, why is that? It is well documented that most transgendered people in the US turn to prostitution to subsidize their care and surguries, since most insurance companies will not cover the costs; additionally, it is well documented that the social mindset keeps those who don't conform in the lower strata of work, and therefor benefits.

We had neighbors with whom my daughters played(on occasion) with their daughters and at one point, one of them confided in me that she was a lesbian. I already knew that, and I said nothing as I was trying to figure out why she seemed to think A) I didn't + B) That she had to tell me + C) Why then? If you want to play true confessions, tell me why you're such a jerk the rest of the time(or does that have anything at all to do with your "lifestyle choice"?)
