Chinais Offense Rates Are Unusually Reduced! What's National Police Force Not Doing That Japanis Does?

It really is practically nothing associated to Authorities by itself.   China involves a quite homogenous population, with very rigid governmental, cultural and household guidelines. Young children are educated from birth in which to keep range, do not act out, respect parents, respect authority, and perform difficult.   Consequently, you will find fairly strong social pressures not to goof-up.    Additionally, it helps they have strong interpersonal and governmental safety-nets for folks with healthcare and psychological issues.  And having an extremely potent economy(effectively, not lately) aids also.   It really is bnothing associated to Authorities.  For example, intuition crimes of love, where authorities do not have any control at all, actually these are really reduce in Japan.  (Yet another explanation, completely supported by data right here and there, is the reality that the free accessibility to abortion is clearly linked, here and there, with lower crime prices 18 years right after).   there are much fewer of these increasing as significantly as be criminally inclined, If there are fewer undesirable youngsters.   Questionable to express minimal amongst anti-abortion forms, nevertheless the statistical data is persuasive.

Japan's Crime Rates Are Unusually Low! What Is American Law Enforcement Not Doing That Japan's Does?

It really is a cultural point. Instead of putting emphasis on the individual, they think of the collective great. Also, respect for the loved ones name, tradition, and respect for their elders is critical to the Japanese.  They have far more of a group mentality. We are raised to place a lot more emphasis on individual rights, for self-fulfillment(some say a lot more selfish), and the breakdown of the family members unit, divorce, and the influence of the church in our day-to-day lives has splintered our society.  They respect the wisdom of age.  We are youth oriented. Also, with our mobility, we no longer reside about one particular an additional and are totally free from the group stress.  I consider that's the difference between us. Japan's Crime Rates Are Unusually Low! What Is American Law Enforcement Not Doing That Japan's Does?

1) Japan's culture permits a lot of drek that we Americans would find abhorrant, so it isn't a great culture by any means(popular comic books follow a rapist as he plans and performs his crime.) 2)(and more importantly) Japan is a mono-culture. We in the U.S. has MANY different peoples with MANY different languages with MANY different cultures. Sometimes okay in one of those is not okay in U.S. law, but more to the point, creating a culture of obeying the law is much more difficult when any such attempts don't speak to everyone. Japan's culture is, going back centuries, very strict. There is nothing in their culture about Dr. Spock or self-esteem or do your own thing or any of the other dumb excuses we have for not growing up. Meanwhile, the U.S. has zillions of 'em. So we get about 1% of our population in prison because about 5%(or more) or our population haven't yet decided  to grow up. Japan's society quickly and--most importantly--universally condemns the immature. Not here. Thus, to your question: their "fairy dust" is a culture that doesn't cut anyone any slack for any immaturity or laziness, ever. Universal social disapproval is a powerful force against crime; only, we don't have that in the U.S. anymore. We used to, but folks made sure our society got rid of it.

Japan's Crime Rates Are Unusually Low! What Is American Law Enforcement Not Doing That Japan's Does?

No police magic is needed there-- Japan has a society which emphasizes harmony and common good, which America does not. Low crime rates there are not necessarily due to the work the Japanese police are doing-- they are mostly due to the values that the Japanese culture holds as important.    The Japanese have an important concept of "anti-social" behavior, which means that when somebody's behavior is not nice in a some manner, it impacts society at large in a harmful way.  Anti-social behavior can mean anything from teenagers yelling out rude comments on the street to an actual pre-planned break-and-enter crime.  Anti-social behavior is strongly discouraged by everybody from passerby's on the street to friends and family members(who can respond with a "tsk-tsk" or saying something designed to curb the behavior), which impacts the psychology of would-be criminals on a whole.    When society encourages politeness, respect, and courtesy, the job of law enforcement is made much easier. Japan's Crime Rates Are Unusually Low! What Is American Law Enforcement Not Doing That Japan's Does?

Nuttin   It has nothing to do with Police per se.   Japan has a very homogenous population, with very strict governmental, family and social rules. Kids are taught from birth to stay in line, don't act out, respect elders, respect authority, and work hard.   As a result, there are very strong societal pressures to not goof up.    It also helps that they have strong social and governmental safety nets for people with mental and medical problems.  And having a very strong economy(well, not lately) helps too.   It has bnothing to do with Police.  For instance, impulse crimes of passion, where police have no possible control over at all, even those are very low in Japan.  (Another reason, very well backed up by statistics here and there, is that the free availability of abortion is strongly correlated, here and there, with lower crime rates 18 years after).  If there are fewer unwanted kids, there are far fewer of them growing up to be criminally inclined.   Controversial to say the least among anti-abortion types, but the statistical evidence is compelling.           Ancient_Hacker 50 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment.
