Job advice, please help?

Postby armin » Wed Jul 25, 2012 8:01 am

i work as a receptionist at a car repair place. My current boss owns the company and he is always whispering when one of the owners comes in. Last week we had someone from corporate come in. The day prior we received a nasty fax from the landlord saying the rent is always late and they are behind that if they don't pay by the first of the month they are going to start the eviction process. Yesterday he was saying to one of the other owners after our district manager called that Joe is putting together a proposal. Today he is trying to downgrade the mins on his cell phone plan. All roads lead to them selling this place among other things like selling the company car, discontiuing their agreement with a few vendors. The only thing I am wondering is if the new owners would keep the current staff since it will still be the same franchise name just different ownership or if I should really start looking. Also if I called corporate offices would they be able to offer me any news/advice because my current manager is mum about everything, guess he thinks I may just quit

If they sell, no way to say if they'd keep staff - I wouldn't count on it. A new owner might very well have a wife/daughter/sister/neighbor or whoever who needs a job.

Don't call corporate - you won't get any info from them.
