JOB outlook for financial advisor and corpoate lawyer for 2011?

Postby gofraidh34 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 5:30 am

I was talking to my friend about what I want to do in the future. I told her I wanted to do something related to money or something with business without actually doing business; most likely law. She told me to go for corporate law or financial advisor, and told they are very excellent jobs.
So basically my question is...
Salary for financial advisors?
Salary for corporate lawyers
Job life for financial advisors (how many hours would I work if I plan on living in NYC?)
Job life for corporate lawyers (if I attended an good, maybe IVY LEAGUE law school and worked at a good law firm in NYC?)
Job outlook for financial adviosrs?
Job outlook for corporate lawyers?
BTW, I am a senior in high school (:

JOB outlook for financial advisor and corpoate lawyer for 2011?

With all due respect, your friend doesn't know much about business. As far as "financial advisers" . . . that's just a lot of bologna. I have never heard of anyone actually going to one of those. That's just a lot of talk that everybody says, but there's really no such thing unless you're a multimillionaire with millions and millions of dollars to invest. After they take a big commission out of your money, they then invest it in the stock market and lose it in bad investments.

And as far as lawyers . . . sure, that's a great field. But there is a huge glut of unemployed lawyers right now. After you graduate from college you then go to law school for 3 years which will cost you about $100,000. Then you won't be able to get a job because there are already over 40,000 unemployed lawyers that can't get a job and there are more being laid off every year.

You really need to do some research before you choose a career field. If I were you I would think about going into medicine and becoming a doctor. There is always a demand for people in the medical field, especially doctors. And they make good money.
