L2 Visa Application Without Social Marriage

Postby Benett » Fri Feb 27, 2015 8:56 am

Hello Sir,

Me and my husband are working in the same company.I got my marriage registered on 28th of Feb 2011. We had both of our parents who attended the registry marriage in marriage registrar office along with some of our cousins. We are planning to get married socially in December 2011.

My husband went to US in March 2011.He has a valid L1 visa till 2014

I want to visit my husband in coming August for 2 weeks.

My questions are:

1)As we dont have marriage invitation card and hindu marriage ritual photos, will it be a problem to get L2 visa stamped, though I have plenty of photos of our official marriage with our parents ,cousins and relatives.

2)Staying a short duration of 2 weeks create any problem for getting L2 stamped, because this is the duration of leave I managed to get from my present employer.

3)Last year in Feb 2010 I got my L1B blanket application rejected, is it going to affect anyway my L2 stamping.

L2 Visa Application Without Social Marriage

Hi,

As the marriage is not a "secret" marriage(there were important witnesses to the marriage such as family members or friends), it should be OK; there is no requirement to have a fancy wedding. However, some other evidence in addition to marriage certificate and photos can be helpful such as joint bank account or credit card or other property, you or your husband adding the spouse to any benefit policy provided by an employer(such as insurance), both of you communicating with each other on regular basis(phone or email records), any evidence of honeymoon after marriage, any evidence that you and your husband(or respective families) corresponded with each other or otherwise knew each other prior to marriage, etc.

The L2 visa stamp issue by the Consulate will be a multiple-entry visa stamp valid until your husband's L1 visa expiration of 2014. The L2 visa stamp allows for entry to the U.S. but does not compel entry or specify that entry must be for a certain minimum amount of time. The Consulate should issue the L2 visa stamp without any bias as this is a different visa category and therefore the previous L1B denial by the Consulate should not prevent issuance of L2 visa stamp.
