Re-entry Or Visa Application After Misdemeanor Theft Charge

Postby garbhach65 » Tue May 20, 2014 4:13 pm

I am a student on F1 visa and was charged with Class A misdemeanor theft ($42) in Kansas and is completing a diversion program lasting 12 months.

1)Is it possible for me to re-enter the U.S./apply for visa renewal (since my visa expires in may) if I leave the country before my diversion is completed?

2) Same question, but after my diversion is completed?

3) Would a criminal record in the U.S. show up in other countries that I want to visit?

thanks..

You mean, if you end up with a warrant for violating your probation, shortly to be followed by a conviction for having violated the terms of your diversion program? I wouldn't recommend that as a path to smooth reentry to the United States.
